As we stand on the brink of another pivotal election year, the need to engage young voters has neer been more urgent. Empower My Hood Inc. (EMH) is proud to invite you to our upcoming event, Power of The Vote: A Youth Voting Town Hall, on September 28th, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The event will be held at the C.W. Mixon Center, located at 112-50 Springfield Blvd., Queens, NY 11429.
This dynamic event is designed to educate, inspire and empower young and first-time voters, equipping them with essential knowledge to make informed decisions in the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election. We’ll dive into critical topics like voter registration, the power of youth participation, and how current education and community policies shape our future. Additionally, participants will also have the chance to engage directly with a panel of community activists and leaders who are at the forefront of advocating for youth and education policies. We’re also excited to welcome a few special guests who will share their powerful insights on the impact of the youth vote!
We invite all registered and soon-to-be registered voters to join us for this informative event. As the late Congressman and Civil Rights Leader John Lewis said, “Voting is the most powerful nonviolent tool or instrument that we have in a democratic society, and we must use it!”

EMH Virtual Voter Registration Party Event Overview
Empower My Hood Inc. will be hosting a Virtual Voter Registration Party on Wednesday, August 21st from 7 PM - 9 PM EST.
This event is intended to inform young voters about the voting process. Provide a general overview of voting, which will include political parties & associated platforms, voting process & registration, 2024 election dates, Primary election & positions (Councilmember, Senator, Representative etc.), Presidential Election. This event is open to all young voters, ages 18-30, as well as High School Students ages 16-17 who are interested in learning more about the voting process.
THE THIRD ANNUAL SOUTHEAST QUEENS COLLEGE FAIR
The Third Annual Southeast Queens College Fair is a free event designed to help the youth of our community explore potential higher education opportunities. Our intention for this event is to expose community youth to various colleges and universities to learn about the array of educational programs and/or opportunities available to students seeking higher education. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with college representatives, take part in workshops and seminars, and gain valuable insight into post-secondary educational pathways.
